Week In The Arts: Dec. 24 - 30, 2018

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley. This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

Monday, the Aspen Historical Society hosts a History Ski Tour at Highlands.  Tours begin at the guest services cabin outside Merry Go Round at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Tuesday, Beatles tribute band The Fab Four takes the stage at the Wheeler. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, the 27th Annual Academy Screenings begin.  The program features films that are generating Oscar buzz. It takes place at the Wheeler Opera House and Paepcke Auditorium. Academy Screenings run through Sunday.  

Aspen Film’s Movies at the Museum series kicks off at the Aspen Art Museum on Wednesday. The winter season's theme is the Zombie Survival Movie Club. Wednesday, the 1936 film “The Walking Dead” will be screened at 5:15 p.m.

Friday, the Belly Up presents an evening of R&B with Lauryn Hill. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Also Friday, the El Javi Trio brings rock flamenco to the Temporary.  Doors open at 8 p.m.

Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles play the JAS Cafe on Friday and Saturday. The group mixes blues, soul, Afrobeat and jazz.  Performances are at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m both evenings at the Cooking School of Aspen.

French techno group Justice performs at the Belly Up on Sunday.  Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
