Week In The Arts: March 11 - 17, 2019

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

Tuesday, Aspen Film and the Temporary present “Bauhaus Spirit: 100 Years of Bauhaus.” The film looks at the Bauhaus movement’s influence on design, art and architecture. Doors open at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, realist painter Sarah Lamb visits Ann Korologos Gallery in Basalt to speak about her work and sign her book “Still Lifes and Landscapes.” The event begins at 5 p.m.

Also Wednesday, CORE presents “Future Energy: a Technologist, a Climate Scientist and an Artist Walk into a Bar.”  It’s a discussion with Bryan Hannegan, CEO of Holy Cross Energy, NOAA scientist Roger Pulwarty and local artist Sarah Uhl. The panel begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Aspen Center For Physics.

Thursday, two new gallery shows open at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. "The Figure" features local artists whose work focuses on the human body.  "A Unique Collaboration" is a photography exhibit in the new West Gallery. The opening begins at 5 p.m.

ACES brings the Wild & Scenic Film Festival to the Wheeler Opera House on Thursday. The festival showcases short environmental and adventure films. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Head and The Heart plays the Belly Up on Friday night. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Saturday, local rock n’ rollers Jes Grew play a St. Patrick’s Day show at The Temporary. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
