Aspen Public Radio and Challenge Aspen present a free virtual book reading with NPR's Scott Simon, reading excerpts from his latest book, Sunnyside Plaza on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 12:30 p.m.
Sunnyside Plaza is a human story of empowerment, empathy, hope, and generosity that was published in January 2020 and is recommended for readers grades 3 and up. One of the major themes of the book is, "kindness starts from within."
According to NPR, while this is Simon's ninth book, it's his very first novel for younger readers. "I have children," he says. "I wanted to finally write a book that they would have a chance of reading past their names in the acknowledgments."
