Ballots are due Tuesday, September 8th, for a Glenwood Springs special election. Voters are deciding whether City officials can consider selling or trading a chunk of property. The land is home to Glenwood’s Recycling Center, and could be a key part of revamping the neighboring Glenwood Springs Elementary School.
The Roaring Fork School District is interested in buying the land or trading for another property, but Glenwood Springs officials cannot entertain such conversations without voter approval.
As of Thursday morning, the Glenwood Springs City Clerk Catherine Mythen had received 650 ballots, out of the 4788 mailed out. Ballots have the wrong address for part of the land in question, prompting Mythen to issue a correction. Ballots can be dropped off until 7pm Tuesday at the City Clerk's office: 101 West 8th Street in Glenwood Springs.
