Pot shop owner says robbery charges fair

Elise Thatcher

Three adult males have been formally charged with robbing a Carbondale marijuana shop.  The men appeared in court Wednesday.

If convicted, the men could likely get hefty fines and up to 48 years each in prison. “I hope they get… spending almost 50 years possibly in prison,” says Mike Friend, owner of Sweet Leaf Pioneer. “[That’s] half of any adult person’s life.” The marijuana shop was robbed earlier this month of about four thousand dollars in cash and products. An employee was held at gunpoint.
