Candidates vying for Snowmass Town Council and mayor's seats debate issues

There are three seats open on Snowmass Village Town Council in this fall’s election, including the mayor’s post. Five candidates debated issues facing the resort town on Aspen Public Radio on Wednesday.

Council members Alyssa Shenk and Tom Goode are being challenged by Jamie Knowlton for one of their seats. Longtime resident and real estate developer Richard Goodwin is challenging incumbent Markey Butler for the mayor’s seat.

However, shortly into the mayoral debate, Goodwin nearly conceded, acknowledging Butler would be re-elected. For detailed coverage, check out Thursday's Aspen Daily News or listen to recordings of both hour-long debates here online.
