Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats bring their neo-soul to Aspen this weekend.
Their new album, "Tearing at the Seams," once again pairs Rateliff's melancholy lyrics with blues-y tunes.
Arts and culture reporter Christin Kay spoke with Rateliff about how a more collaborative approach led to innovation and new sounds on "Tearing at the Seams."
They also spoke about the impact that the death of the album's producer, Richard Swift, had on the band, and about where Rateliff gets his onstage energy, especially in the light of the band's notorious touring schedule.
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats perform Saturday and Sunday at the Belly Up.
