'People's Choice Art Show': Collective's Effort To Engage Artists, Community

The first People’s Choice Art Show takes place Thursday at The Collective in Snowmass’ Base Village. It’s a part of the new venue’s emphasis on local artists.

The People’s Choice Art Show includes paintings, photos and more from artists from Snowmass to Silt. Attendees vote on their favorite and the winning artist will have their own solo show at The Collective next year.

Sara Halferty, the curator for The Collective, says the arts are a great way to bring the community in to the space, which has only been open since December.

“We’re really trying to capitalize on that in Base Village by supporting local arts and businesses,” she said.

The People’s Art Show is one of the last few events at The Collective before it closes April 7 for construction.

The Collective will continue to host concerts, a farmer’s market, outdoor movies and other events throughout the summer, where the ice skating rink is now.
