Savanna LaBauve and Stephanie Seguin have spent the past two years as artists-in-residence at the Carbondale Clay Center.

The fruits of their labor go on display Friday in a new exhibit at the R2 Gallery.

The two artists spent their residencies exploring different forms and materials, experimentation that Seguin says is on display in their show “Linear//Planar.”

"We continuously found, like, OK, that worked do it again, OK that worked, do it again, OK, that didn’t work. Re-do it," she said.

The artists have pushed their boundaries during their time in Carbondale.

Seguin created a ceramic sculpture for each day she’s spent at the Clay Center.

"I’ve set this absurd task for myself of making 730 hand-built vessels in six months,” she said.

LaBauve crafted ceramic baskets that stand multiple feet tall.

“I’ve never built this big,” said LaBauve.

“Linear//Planar” opens Friday evening at the Launchpad.

Both artists have solo shows at the Carbondale Clay Center this summer: LaBauve in June, Seguin in July.
