Straight Line Studio, a new gallery that aims to highlight local artists, opens Friday in Snowmass Base Village.
Visual artist Kelly Peters owns the new studio. She says she sees a need for an experimental space in the upvalley area that hosts community events and workshops while featuring emerging artists.
“Where is the intermediate space for people who aren’t selling their work for $50,000 and up?” she said.
She says having locals and visitors interact in the space will bring fresh energy to Snowmass.
"I see it as a benefit. You can merge those people together. Tourists want to meet the locals and locals want to meet the tourists," she said.
Peters’ own work is featured alongside Teal Wilson’s for Straight Line Studio’s first show, called “First Tracks.”
The grand opening begins at 5 p.m. Friday.
