The Arts Campus At Willits Brings Children’s Film Festival Highlights To Basalt

The Arts Campus At Willits

The Arts Campus at Willits has partnered with the New York International Children’s Film Festival to bring audience favorite and award-winning short films to Basalt.

The festival curates children’s films from all over the world. It also provides discussion materials to attendees. Ryan Honey, the executive director of The Arts Campus at Willits, says the aim to spark conversations between kids and parents.

"One of the goals is to have a parent take the handout and at dinner that night say, “Hey, let’s talk about those movies,'" he said. "They’re able to really teach kids what is the power of film and how is it used as a communication tool and what can you learn."

A program for younger children kicks off the series Saturday. Future screenings are aimed at older kids and teens, as well as Spanish speakers.

All films are shown at the Basalt Library.
