Aspen Art Museum Announces New Nancy And Bob Magoon Director Nicola Lees

Aspen Art Museum

The Aspen Art Museum has announced that Nicola Lees will take over as Nancy and Bob Magoon director.

Lees takes the place of Heidi Zuckerman, who served as director from 2005 until late last summer.

Lees was most recently director and curator of New York University’s contemporary art space 80 Washington Square East Gallery, where she served from 2016.

Her previous experience includes tenures as curator at Frieze Foundation, senior curator of public rograms at London’s Serpentine Gallery and assistant curator of the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

In a statement, she said, "“I’m very excited to begin this new chapter of the Aspen Art Museum’s history. I look forward to working closely with the Board of Trustees, the team at the Museum, and Aspen’s Roaring Fork Valley communities to bring the Aspen Art Museum to its next exciting stage of development."

She will oversee all programming, as well as the museum’s financial operations, starting April 6.
