Aspen Words Author Talk: Casey Gerald

Aspen Words Author Talk: Casey Gerald

Throughout the summer and fall, working writers from around the country arrive in the Roaring Fork Valley for a special opportunity to nurture their creative spirit as participants in a program created by Aspen Words in partnership with the Catto Shaw Foundation.

Casey Gerald is the author of “There Will Be No Miracles Here,” a memoir that straddles the complex intersection of race, class, religion and sexuality. It was named a Best Book of 2018 by NPR and The New York Times, was a finalist for the LAMBDA Literary Award, and has been honored as a longlist selection for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. Casey Gerald’s two TED Talks have been viewed over five million times, and he has been featured on CNN and MSNBC, as well as in The Guardian and the New York Review of Books.

He joined Daniel Shaw on stage for this final conversation of the season, recorded on October 19, 2021, at TACAW, The Center for Arts at Willits, as part of the 2021 Aspen Words Writers in Residence program, sponsored by Aspen Public Radio.
