Get Glenwood Going Grant (G4) Applications Available
Friday, May 15 – The City of Glenwood Springs, Downtown Development Authority and the Glenwood Springs Chamber Foundation are announcing the Get Glenwood Going Grant for business relief. The G4 program was created to provide rent, utility or mortgage interest relief for businesses. Businesses within the city limits of Glenwood Springs can qualify for up to $4,000.
The grant program's funding comes from $100,000 from the city’s Financial Advisory Board grants and $100,000 that was originally earmarked for the City of Glenwood Springs’ employees housing assistance program. The Downtown Development Authority also allocated $100,000 out of its 2020 budget to assist businesses in the downtown area.
“This historic collaboration comes at a time when our businesses needed it most. This $300,000 will be allocated in a way to stretch these resources to the greatest number of businesses throughout Glenwood Springs,” said Mayor Jonathan Godes.
Applications are due Tuesday, May 26 by 5 p.m.
Statewide Day Of Remembrance Set For Friday
Thursday, May 14 - Communities across Colorado are encouraged to come together this Friday 7 p.m. to honor and remember more than 1,000 Coloradans that died due to COVID-19.
“This global pandemic has cost 300,000 lives across the world and over 1,000 in Colorado alone," said Governor Jared Polis in a press release." Too many Coloradans have lost family members and friends to this deadly virus, and we honor and celebrate their lives especially because many victims couldn’t have proper in-person funerals, remembrances, and wakes.”
Coloradans can participate by wearing a protective face covering or mask for a minute of silence to display their effort to do their part to save lives at 7:00 p.m. They can also post on social media to raise awareness about the remembrance event.
Eagle County Fair & Rodeo Canceled
Wednesday, May 13 - Eagle County Board of Commissioners announced Wednesday the 81st annual Fair & Rodeo scheduled for July 22-25 is canceled.
Plans for exhibitor-only competitions and online auctions will be announced soon.
Colorado Set to Reopen State Park Campgrounds
Tuesday, May 12 - Governor Polis announced today that Colorado Parks and Wildlife would begin reopening campgrounds run by the state as part of Colorado's Safer-at-Home phased reopening. Users should be aware of fire restrictions in place. A full list of campgrounds set to reopen can be found on Colorado Parks and Wildlife's website.
Governor's Office Launches Spanish Language Social Media Platforms
Tuesday, May 12 - Governor Polis launched Spanish language Facebook and Twitter pages today to help spread information about COVID-19 to the state's Spanish-speaking communities. Governor Polis said that the intent was to "further connect with Spanish speaking Coloradans and ensure they are getting the latest information as it's being released" in a statement from his office.

JAS Labor Day Experience Postponed To 2021
Monday, May 11 - Jazz Aspen Snowmass announced the rescheduling of the 2020 Labor Day Experience, which will now be held Labor Day weekend of 2021. All artists scheduled to perform this year, including Stevie Nicks, Eric Church, Kings of Leon and Maren Morris, have committed to the September 3-5, 2021 dates.

Eagle County Hosts Livestreamed Forum To Address Business Questions
Sunday, May 10 - Eagle County’s "One Valley Voice" will host a livestreamed community meeting on Thursday, May 14 from 1 - 2:30 p.m. The virtual forum will feature representatives from health organizations, the business community, news outlets, local government, and the events industry.
Participating organizations include Vail Valley Partnership, Vail Valley Foundation, Vail Health, the Vail Daily, Eagle County Government, and the Basalt Chamber. The meeting can be livestreamed on ECGTV, and Facebook in English and Spanish.
