27th Street Bridge Expected To Remain Closed Through Friday

City of Glenwood Springs

The 27th Street Bridge in Glenwood Springs is expected to remain closed through Friday.

Portions of S. Grand Avenue and Atkinson Trail will also be closed this week, due to delays as crews take down the old 27th Street Bridge.

The old bridge must be deconstructed before the new traffic bridge is installed. More construction will be required to connect the new bridge to existing roads before it’s officially opened to traffic.

A detour is set along Eighth Street. There is no through access at S. Grand Ave. and 27th Street. Local businesses will remain open despite the closures.

Pedestrians and bicyclists should continue to use Old Cardiff Bridge or the 14th Street Bridge as alternate routes for 27th Street Bridge and Atkinson Trail.

There is no Colorado River access at 27th Street. All river users must eddy-out at or before 3-Mile Creek or put-in downstream of the 27th Street Bridge.
