The Basalt Public Arts Commission (BPAC) wants to distribute $40,000 to artists through a new grant program.
BPAC is responsible for Motio 2.0, the large, colorful metal sculptures installed around town.
The arts commission wants to see more public art and worked with the Basalt Town Council earlier this year to create the grant program.
Any artist or organization with an idea to increase public engagement with the arts can apply for up to $20,000. Funds can be used to create installations, organize events or start art-education programs.
Applicants do not have to live in Basalt. The arts commission will make recommendations to the town council, which awards the grants.
The deadline to apply is June 30. Another round of applications will open in the fall.
