Roaring Fork Valley native Eleanor Bennett will take over the role of Morning Edition host at Aspen Public Radio starting in August.

Bennett is a producer, radio journalist, and former Aspen Public Radio intern who graduated from Middlebury College in 2015. Prior to returning to the Roaring Fork Valley, Bennett covered issues of climate justice and women's empowerment for SiriusXM Radio in New York City. In 2019, she served as producer of Aspen Public Radio’s teen-focused podcast, Gen Z Tea.

Most recently, as a contributor for the station, Bennett has reported on topics from local DACA recipients awaiting the Supreme Court’s ruling on the program, to a looming eviction crisis due to the pandemic here in the Valley.

“Growing up in the valley listening to KAJX in my parents’ car on the way to school, I learned the power and urgency of community storytelling,” says Bennett. “I am thrilled to be back at our local station. I look forward to shining a light on the critical issues that shape our valley and helping local residents tell their stories.”

Bennett will now serve as the ‘voice’ of Aspen Public Radio during the station’s highest-rated daypart, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.

In addition to her daily hosting duties, Bennett will also be responsible for working on long-range stories, features and short news pieces, as well producing limited-series podcasts.

Bennett replaces Molly Dove, who relocated back to Wisconsin to be closer to her family.

Contributor Christin Kay is passionate about the rich variety of arts, cultural experiences and stories in the Roaring Fork Valley. She has been a devotee of public radio her whole life. Christin is a veteran of Aspen Public Radio, serving as producer, reporter and interim news director.
