Citizens for Aspen Aliveis working to get people to vote yes on Question 2A. It would allow developer Mark Hunt’s Base 2 lodge to be built on the corner of Monarch and Main streets. Hunt’s the lone contributor to the issue committee, spending $50,000 of his own money on things like mailers, newspaper advertising, t-shirts, pizza and beer.

The committee against Base 2 raised a fraction of what its opponents brought in. Vote No on Base 2amassed a total of $5200 in October. They’ve spent nearly $5000 on newspaper ads, mailing materials and voter lists. Aspen resident Steve Goldenberg contributed the most: $2500. Aspen City councilman Bert Myrin also donated.
