May 17 Saturday
Start your training for Ride for the Pass, happening on Saturday, May 17th. At this 31st year of the event you can ride up the pass (sun or snow) with no vehicles on the road. The event benefits Independence Pass Foundation which works so hard to take care of our pass. A barbecue + raffle will follow the ride at the winter gate (weather permitting).
As more people access the backcountry, learning how to safely and responsibly spend time in these spaces is a critical part of being prepared. Join Aspen Public Radio and The Arts Campus at Willits (TACAW) on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the Roaring Fork Valley’s second annual Backcountry Symposium.
This FREE event will convene local and visiting backcountry enthusiasts. Register now to be entered into a drawing for amazing backcountry gear and prizes!
Beginning with a Resource Fair of area organizations and businesses working in outdoor education and adventure, the day will include a series of panel discussions and presentations exploring the backcountry, sharing key resources and tools for understanding the season ahead and the demands of these spaces, with lots of storytelling and some of the history of going backcountry in our region.
Get ready for a fun day of friendly competition in support of youth in our community! Whether you're a seasoned pickleball player or newer to the sport, this event will offer an opportunity to play, meet new friends, and be part of a vibrant community working toward a brighter future for youth.
