Mobile home park residents to ask Garfield County to opt-in to state funds for affordable housing

Residents of 3-Mile Mobile Home Park will be going before the Garfield County commissioners on Monday to ask them to opt-in to receive state funds from Proposition 123 for affordable housing before a Nov. 1 deadline. The residents hope to apply for the funds to help them takeover ownership of their park.

Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley expects to close on the purchase of the L3 at Green Leaf Lofts apartment building near the Glenwood Meadows shopping area in Glenwood Springs later this month. The nonprofit will then begin the process of converting the 88-unit building from rental units to affordable ownership condos.

People working in the valley could soon have a new opportunity to buy a condo at a more affordable rate in Glenwood Springs. Local nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley has plans to turn an already existing apartment building into deed-restricted condos.
