The Aspen Public Radio news team has received four 2019 “Top of the Rockies” awards from the Colorado Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Morning Edition host and reporter Molly Dove received first place in the “Features: Short Form” category for “The Legend of the Frying Pan Road Pumpkin Fairy.”
Reporter Alex Hager’s story “Visually-Impaired Teens Find Joy And Empowerment On The Slopes” won third place for “News Reporting- Single Story.”
“Reading, Writing, Cybercivics: Schools Grapple With Creating Good Digital Citizens” by interim news director Christin Kay won third place in the “Education: Enterprise Reporting” category.
Environment reporter Elizabeth Stewart-Severy’s story “Beavers Work Hard For Local Ecosystems" took home third place for “Agriculture and Environment: Enterprise.”
An awards ceremony planned for April 17 has been postponed.
