Cultural Events Calendar

Family friendly celebration of the past 125 years of the Town of Basalt. We've got festivities all afternoon and into the evening. Please see the schedule below. Don't miss around the Ute Tribal Performances and music by Malqueridøs and A Band Called Alexis. There will be Pumpkin crafts by Art Base, and bouncy houses and obstacle courses hosted by Basalt Regional Library. This event will have local farmers selling fall harvest. Welcome for tours inside of the Arbaney Barn with the Basalt Heritage Society.

For pie baking contest - please bring two pies for the judges to try and rate. Please, park at Basalt Elementary or Middle School and walk the path to Arbaney Park. ADA parking available at Arbaney Park.

A free community event where anyone can register to pick up a bag of fresh, regeneratively grown produce from local farms—enough to feed a family of four. By purchasing produce directly from local farmers, the program nourishes more than 2,000 people each year while providing farmers with a reliable market for their end-of-season harvest. Registration will open in the beginning of November.

The Wheeler Opera House invites the community to celebrate a recent designation as recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Historic Theatre Award during a public open house Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The free event will feature remarks from Aspen Mayor Rachel Richards, light refreshments, door prizes, information about upcoming Wheeler events, and opportunities to learn more about historic theatres and their role in preserving culture and building community.
Presented by the League of Historic American Theatres during the league's 50th anniversary year, the Outstanding Historic Theatre Award recognizes theatres that demonstrate excellence in historic preservation, community impact, quality programming and services, and restoration or rehabilitation of historic theatre buildings.

Since the league's founding in 1976, the award has been bestowed just 21 times, placing the Wheeler among a distinguished group of historic theatres recognized for sustained excellence. Members of the League of Historic American Theatres Board of Directors will be in attendance at the event.

Join the City of Aspen and the Pitkin County Library for Swap, Don't Shop, a free community clothing swap at the Pitkin County Library! Discover new-to-you treasures, clear out your closet, and help keep gently used clothing in our community and out of the landfill.

Stop by between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 25 to browse, swap, and connect with neighbors. Enjoy light refreshments and snacks while supporting local waste diversion efforts. No donation is required to participate, and everyone is welcome! Any unclaimed items will be donated to Arc Thrift Store in Glenwood Springs.

Accepted items (all must be in good repair):

• Dresses
• Shoes
• Jackets
• Outerwear
• Baby and kids clothing
  

Drop off times: If you would like to bring clothes to swap ahead of the event, you can drop off your clothes at the Pitkin County Library during the following times:

• Friday, October 23^rd from 2-6pm
• Saturday, October 24^th from 2-6pm
• Sunday, October 25^th from 10am-12pm
• Donated clothes can also be brought during the event
  

We are NOT accepting any donations other than clothes and shoes in good condition. This includes no sports equipment, outdoor gear, accessories (belts, jewelry, hats, purses), games, or toys. We will also not accept socks or underwear.
